The Osteoporosis Risk Estimator provides an assessment of a user’s risk for osteoporosis. The calculation is based on lifestyle, health history, and age-related factors. The result offers insight into bone health and indicates whether further evaluation may be recommended.
Users are asked questions about:
- Their age range
- Biological gender
- Height and weight for BMI calculation
- Fractures due to a minor bump or fall
- Parents who experienced fractures after a minor bump or fall
- Engagement in weight-bearing exercises
- Smoking habits
- Alcohol consumption
- Calcium intake
- Vitamin D intake
- Rheumatoid arthritis condition
- Corticosteroids intake
- Sunlight exposure
- Menopause (for women only)
The user's answers to the different questions will be translated into a point system:
